The Low Carb Diet

The body produces growth hormone only in response to growth hormones or hormone receptor blocking chemicals in other tissues. Thus, growth hormone has nothing to do with anabolic steroid abuse. This growth hormone, like other growth factor hormones, are produced in response to a variety of substances in the body and it is thought that a steroid user may be altering the body's production of this growth hormone (3). It has been suggested that such growth hormone may be interfering with anabolic steroid use, causing a person to abuse steroids, but scientists aren't sure if this is the case; more research is needed. Another cause of stimulatory growth hormone is a lack of a growth hormone antagonist to help suppress the growth hormone signal (4).
